This area is a must-see for all visitors to Norfolk Island....primarily for it's history & still standing convict ruins. It is best visited with a guide as they are so knowledgeable in the ancient history. The local community are to be commended for leaving as much of the convict ruins as preserved as they have...as it tells a very interesting story of the the early convict Penal Colony's history including the barbaric penalties handed out to the convicts. It is the oldest of all 11 Australian convict sites, & is a World Heritage site.
